Welcome to the Texas District of Pilot International

We are the second largest District of 20 in Pilot International, with 45 clubs and approximately 1400 members. Pilot Club International (now referred to as “Pilot International”) was chartered on October 18, 1921 in Macon, Georgia, USA. Forty local businesswomen had envisioned not only just a local club but an international organization from the beginning, and the name “Pilot” was inspired by the mighty riverboat pilots of the day who represented leadership and guidance. Pilot Principles are Friendship and Service, our Motto is “True Course Ever”, our colors are Green (life and vigor) and Gold (sincerity of purpose) and our Emblem is a riverboat pilot’s wheel with eight spokes.

The 2009-2010 Pilot International theme "Celebrate Pilot Past Present and Future" was chosen by Pilot International President Pat Jarvis. Pat is from Georgia District. Her symbol is the beautiful yellow rose and bells.

In 1990-1991 Pilot adopted a service focus of “Brain Related Disorders”. The Texas Pilots support that focus through the Projects in our communities. The Signature Project for the Texas District is Traumatic Brain Injury Camps. Pilots support 3 weekend camps and one day camp for Adult traumatic brain injury survivors. Texas Pilots have created the TBI Camp Foundation to help support these camps.

BrainMinders is the signature project of Pilot International – Protecting your brain for life is an ongoing program teaching children, youth and seniors about protecting their brains. The program consists of a puppet show, story, activity/coloring book and song to promote safety. Texas Pilots actively present BrainMinders to thousands of children throughout the District. Alzheimer’s Awareness is another focus that assists Pilots in learning about Alzheimer’s Disease. The awareness and understanding of this disease will enable us to assist our population with education and services that are available for caregivers and those affected by this disease. Pilot International is a partner with Project Lifesaver. There are many clubs in the Texas District that work hand in hand with their local law enforcement agencies to promote and fund this wonderful project that helps protect our citizens that wander. Please visit the direct link to the Project Lifesaver website.

Texas Pilots will join together for training during the 2010-2011 Pilot year. West Fall Council will be September 11, 2010 in Odessa, North Fall Council will be in Nacogdoches on September 25, 2010.  South Fall Council will be in Baytown on October 23, 2010. District Anchor Convention will be in Corpus Christi, February 18-20, 2011 and the District Pilot Convention will be in Corpus Christi, April 8-10, 2011.
